History

The first announcement appeared in the Naugatuck Daily News on March 23, 1971. A campaign was undertaken to solicit the input of local businessmen, organizations, and the general public. Finally, with a vote of confidence from our Mayor C.J. Wasowicz, plans began to formulate the foundation. After many months of planning, on November 17, 1971 the framework was announced explaining the guidelines, emblem development, types of awards and selection process. With the minimal profits derived from our annual event, we have donated generously to local youth programs and activities that assist handicapped and young people. Benefactors include: Naugatuck Babe Ruth, the Little Leagues, the Naugatuck Junior Football League, Conn. Trails Girls Scouts and Long River Boy Scouts, sending young people to camp.
